Financial Management and Decision Making
Welcome to the Financial Management and Decision Making theme within our Learning Zone. We provide a range of materials and resources to support you in your learning and we are pleased to make available a (free) set of awareness notes that will supplement your learning experience.
Financial Management and Decision Making tends to cover three areas, namely Investment, Financing and Dividends. These areas, for a private company are all geared towards satisfying one primary financial objective, "Maximising Shareholder Value".
The Investment decision focuses on how financial managers manage both short-term and longer- term investment decisions concerning the company.
The Financing decision looks at the sources of finance, associated costs and the optimal capital structure for an organisation.
The Dividend decision focuses on the type and nature of dividend policy a company should have.
We have broken down the theme into the following topics:
• Financial Management Function
• External Considerations
• Finance
• Investment Decision
• Dividend Policy
We hope that you benefit from these notes and would welcome you feedback and sharing these with your friends and colleagues.
